Most other kits on the market require welding a hex or splined adapter shaft to the existing Miata steering shaft, which is beyond the scope of some shade tree car builders.

The simplicity of this kit is in the way the NRG hub and disconnect are designed to work together, and how they simply bolt onto the existing Miata steering shaft. With the advice of Mike Rossini, owner of Rossini Racing Engines, we've put together a "Rossini Quick Disconnect" that uses the same parts as Mike uses in his very own Spec Miata race cars. It is an absolute MUST when building a Miata racecar. Most racers will see the benefit of a removable steering wheel when they get in and out of the car before and after driving it. With a removable steering wheel, this process becomes vastly easier. It is necessary to be able to remove the steering wheel because in the event of an emergency, the close confines of the Miata make exiting the vehicle extremely hard. One of the biggest hurdles in building a Miata racecar is figuring out the process of going about a quick release for the steering wheel.
